Medical Malpractice

Preparing for a reviewing physician

Start with the records and timeline. Then work with the firm to identify a physician qualified to review the care at issue.

Your medical care comes first. This checklist is not a medical opinion, a deadline calculation or a decision that you have a claim.

2

Identify the care to be reviewed

Share the provider names, the treatment involved and your timeline with the firm.

3

Discuss the right reviewing physician

The firm reviews which physician qualifications apply to the care at issue. A treating physician provides medical care; a physician reviewing a potential claim has a separate role. Do not delay treatment while seeking legal review.

4

Arrange a records-based review

A checklist does not establish negligence or qualify a physician. Where the facts warrant it, the firm arranges a review by a qualified physician before a claim is made. Do not wait for every record before requesting legal review.

General information, not medical or legal advice. Checking items does not preserve a claim or create an attorney-client relationship. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
